Dimensions of the Korean Knee

Abstract
The complexity of knee moiion and stability requires optimal prosthesis design and size replication.
This si;udy analyzes the morphological relationships within the knee-19 linear anatomical parameters were measured with a caliper gauge(fig. 13). Comparable anatomical dimensions were determinE;d from 40 cadaveric knees. Iniact embalmed non-arthritic cadaver knees ~~ e: ~ ;>clected from the anatomy ]ab. of anatomy department of this university.
The population studied are listed in table 1.
The mean and standard deviation of the linear demensions of the cadaveric knee are listed in -table 2.
Dimensions of the male knees averaged 11 per cent greater than those of females. A consistant correlation was observed between the knee dimension and cad~~ver height.
The w:dth of the femur was found to be dimensionally related to the measured parameters with the exception of the length of the patella.
The nomograms author developed will aid the surgeon in a more precise, preoperative morphological evaluation and may be used as a guide for future korean knee prosthesis design.
